MONTICELLO – With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless of Monticello is providing “fixins” for people to prepare their holiday dinners.

Everything needed for that special meal, with the exception of turkey, was distributed on Friday. The birds will be available on Tuesday, said Director Kathy Kreiter.

Dawn Tylor of Monticello said what the federal does is more than just for Thanksgiving.

“I appreciate them because they helped me a lot as well. Being a single mom, you know, grandmom,” said Dawn Tylor. “So, you know, they helped me out as much as far as food is concerned. Business-wise, like, they help you find jobs and things like that. They are really helpful in here.”

Kreiter said just like any other household, they need to keep the lights on, the staff paid and the doors open. “We can have all the food in the world but if we can’t pay the bills, you know, we’re not here. So, we’re very lucky to have many good folks in the community, businesses and individuals, who time after time, year after year, step up and they take care of everybody,” she said.
