Suspect arrested in Yonkers shooting of off-duty NYPD officer

YONKERS – A 30-year-old Port Chester man has been charged with opening fire on an off-duty New York City Police officer from Yonkers as he waited in traffic to enter the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Police said it was a targeted attack stemming from a personal dispute between the two. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm when the suspect fired 13 rounds at him.

Yonkers Police did not release the name of the 27-year-old victim who was shot late in the morning of November 14, but identified the suspect as Bryan Martinez, 30, who was arrested two days after the incident on November 16.

The  wounded off-duty cop drove himself to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Martinez was charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
