CITY OF HUDSON – Police have determined that there was no attempted abduction of a child in the City of Hudson.

When police located the vehicle and driver on Friday, it was revealed that a language barrier led to a misinterpretation of the events.

The driver had observed a child dropping a jacket on the walking/biking path and in attempt to inform the child, the driver stopped and made a hand gesture pointing to the rear of the vehicle.

Police said the driver had “a strong accent,” and the child believed he was instructing him to “get into the back” of the van.

Police Commissioner Shane Bower said no crimes were committed and the case has been closed.
