BLOOMING GROVE – Kevin Wakeham is now the new police chief in the Town of Blooming Grove.
He replaces the retiring Alex Melchiore.
The new chief’s priorities include additional specialty training for officers, instituting a DUI stop program and implementation of grants.
The new chief complimented his predecessors for laying the groundwork over the years setting up the department to carry their work into the future.
Wakeham started in 2004 with the NYPD but was hired by Blooming Grove in 2005. He most recently held the rank of sergeant.
The new chief is married with two daughters.
