POUGHKEEPSIE – A presentation on restructuring the schools in the Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD) will be given at the Wednesday (tonight) board of education workshop meeting.  Rumors of changing which schools educate what grades began circulating recently.

On Tuesday afternoon PCSD Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser indicated he is not opposed to making changes for the betterment of the district.  “The district is always looking at ways to improve its ability to deliver a quality education to all students,” he told Mid-Hudson News.  Rosser also indicated that there has been some “preliminary work done to explore potential school restructurings, but no decisions have been made.”

The restructuring could include moving students in certain grades from one elementary school to a different one in the district.

The presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the PCSD Administration Building, at 18 S. Perry Street.
If the board wishes to explore the matter further, a task force including parents, students, community partners, and district staff will be established.
