LIBERTY- On November 1st  Sullivan 180 released the 2023-2025 Healthier Generation Grant Applications. These grants are available to Sullivan County Public Schools with a current Healthier Generation (HG) Advisor and Wellness Coordinator.

The enhanced program offers three types of grants. The Healthier Generation School Grant, in the amount of $4,000, supports initiatives that bring awareness and support to the District’s Wellness Policy within a particular school building.

The Healthier Generation Competition Grant, in the amount of $10,000, is meant to boost schools to a higher level of health and wellness; and encourage the creation of a campaign to promote specific goals of the school district’s wellness policy to the school community.

New this year, The Healthier Generation District Impact Grant in the amount of $20,000, supports specific goals of the school district’s wellness policy to improve the health and wellness of the school community, either district-wide or in a particular school building.

Healthier Generation Advisors, Wellness Coordinators, School Administrators and Community Resource Committee Partners convened at CVI on Wednesday, November 8th for the First Healthier Generation Council Meeting of the school year, for networking and an in-depth review of the grants.

“As the Empowering a Healthier Generation Program continues to evolve, so do the schools’ level of engagement in health and wellness initiatives. This year there will be more projects than ever with multiple schools working on larger projects funded by the HG Grant Awards won through the 2022-23 HG Grant Competition,” said Meaghan Mullally-Gorr, Director of Health & Wellness. “In addition to expanded timelines and larger grants, HG Advisors have garnered incredible support from the school community, priming them for great success in the coming year.”

“I am very excited about the new grant opportunities offered by Sullivan 180’s Empowering a Healthier Generation Program. These grants allow our schools to focus their efforts on healthier outcomes for all of the students in Sullivan County. ‘One degree at a time,’ these grants will positively impact our children’s health outcomes.” Dr. Robert M. Dufour, District Superintendent & CEO, Sullivan BOCES.
