WHITE PLAINS – A 16-year-old Yonkers resident was arraigned on an indictment charging him with criminally negligent homicide for the December 2022 vehicular crash in Yonkers that resulted in the death of 53-year-old Yonkers Police Detective Sgt. Frank Gualdino.

It is alleged that the youth, whose name was not made public because of his age, allegedly drove a BMW M5 Competition vehicle in a criminally negligent manner on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers on the afternoon of December 1, 2022, resulting in the car crossing the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and into the victim’s unmarked police car.

The youth was arraigned on Monday where bail was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or 10 percent partially-secured bond.

Westchester District Attorney Miriam Rocah said her office “has been committed throughout this nearly year-long investigation to seek accountability in this tragic and devastating incident that took the life of Detective Sgt. Gualdino.”
