HYDE PARK – Three teenagers have been identified as being responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of tools from a construction site in September.  Hyde Park Police investigated the large theft and appended the suspects almost a month after the crime was committed.

The three teens, ages 15, 16, and 17, are alleged to have stolen more than $14,000 worth of tools from the hotel construction site at the Bellefield project on Route 9 and West Dorsey Lane on September 4, 2023.

According to Police Chief Robert Benson, his detective division investigated the large-scale theft and arrested three juveniles in connection with the incident.  The stolen tools were also located and returned to the owners, he said.

Both the 16- and 17-year-olds were charged with felony grand larceny and felony burglary.  The 16-year-old was taken into custody at police headquarters on September 29.  The 17-year-old was arrested at headquarters on September 25.  The 15-year-old was charged with felony burglary at police headquarters on September 25, just 30 minutes before his accomplice was charged.

The youngest was given an appearance ticket to present himself to the Dutchess County Probation Department.  The two older suspects were arraigned and turned over to the probation department.
