CARMEL – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 16-year-old Carmel High School student in connection with anti-Semitic graffiti scratched into the surface of the school’s tennis courts.

The markings of a swastika and the words “Adolf Hitler” were carved into the courts’ pavement some time around September 20, when they were discovered by school staff and students.

An investigation was begun with interviews of staff and students and a review of video footage.

On October 20, a student was identified. Authorities who did not say if the suspect was a boy or girl, turned themselves in and was arrested on a felony charge of harassment and was issued an appearance ticket to Putnam County Family Court.
