FISHKILL – State Police have arrested a woman in connection with last Saturday morning’s hit-and-run fatal auto accident near the intersection of Merritt Boulevard and Vanderbilt Way in Fishkill.
Police identified the victim as Balvinder Parihar, 72, of Fishkill. After the 10 a.m. incident, the driver fled the scene.
The New York State Police issued a request for witnesses of the accident to assist in the investigation, which determined Aida Miranda, 62, of Fishkill, was driving a Kia when she struck the victim and fled the scene.
She was subsequently arrested and charged with the felony of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash. She was arraigned before Fishkill Town Justice Ray Raiche and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail. Miranda is due back in court on November 4.
