MAYBROOK – The driver of a pickup truck was rushed to Westechester Medical Center Monday morning after his pickup truck crashed through a guard rail on an elevated section of Interstate 84 as it crossed over the Wallkill River in Maybrook and careened into the water where the vehicle landed upside down.
The incident occurred minutes before 8 a.m.
State Police said the man was the only occupant of the vehicle. That was confirmed when a dive team was called in to conduct an underwater search.
It took several hours for a tow truck to secure the vehicle and pull it out of the river.
Emergency medical services personnel were called in to attend to the man before he was rushed to the hospital.
