Port Jervis Fall Foliage Fest

PORT JERVIS – Thousands attended Port Jervis’ 30th Annual Fall Foliage Festival this Sunday, taking advantage of a sunny fall day to enjoy the festival’s sights, sounds, smells, and fun.

A closed-off section of the city’s historic downtown business district was filled with vendors, entertainers, individuals, and families who turned to enjoy a fall day outside together.

Hosted by the Port Jervis Tourism Board, there were many entertainers on hand to delight the large crowds gathered at various performance locations throughout the Sunday event.

Laura Meyer, Port Jervis Tourism Board’s chairwoman for the last 13 years, noted that while rain on September 24 postponed the event, the community came out in large numbers to enjoy it.

“It was another successful event hosted by the Port Jervis Tourism Board,” Maria Mann, Port Jervis councilwoman and co-organizer of the event.  “While boosting our beautiful city, the exposure attracted future visitors.”

The Fall Foliage Festival is one of many events hosted by the Tourism Board to bring people into the city’s downtown each year.

Next ahead for this year is the Downtown Spooktacular.  This will take place on October 28, right after the Port Jervis Recreation Department’s 75th Annual Port Jervis Halloween Parade. The Downtown Spooktacular will feature face-painting, a Scavenger Hunt with prizes, and trick-or-treating at participating downtown stores.

The city’s annual Christkindlmarkt is scheduled for November 26, from 10-5 in the downtown business district.  Watch for more information to come regarding this enchanting German Christmas market and other Tourism Board events.

A Harvest Festival hosted by Port Jervis Police Department will take place this coming Saturday, October 21, from 12-3 p.m. at Riverside Park.  It will include a petting zoo, pumpkins, hayrides, face painting, a bonfire, Touch-A-Truck participants, and apple cider, doughnuts, and s’mores, all completely free of charge.
