Convicted felon and accused drug dealer David Brooks Jr.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Convicted felon David Brooks, Jr., 22, was arrested Thursday evening for allegedly selling drugs while on probation.  The Poughkeepsie resident was arrested by members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force following an investigation and indictment of Brooks which was completed in August.

Brooks was taken into custody at the Dutchess County Department of Probation on a warrant signed in Dutchess County Court on October 4, 2023.  He is facing three felony charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and three felony charges of criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Brooks is currently on probation following a 2022 felony drug conviction.  Following his arrest, he was taken to the Dutchess County Jail to await arraignment in Dutchess County Court.

“Drug dealers who choose to sell dangerous drugs that are often mixed with fentanyl, even after being placed on supervision in lieu of a prison sentence, will be aggressively targeted by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force,” Detective Sergeant Adam Harris.
