WASHINGTON – Two county airports in the Mid-Hudson Valley will receive federal funding for safety improvement projects.

Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger – Dutchess County’s airport, will receive just under $1.4 million to rehabilitate its taxiway, modernize its guidance and lighting systems, and acquire essential snow removal equipment.

Orange County Airport in Montgomery will use its more than $3.3 million to overhaul its apron where aircraft are parked, unloaded, loaded, refueled and boarded by passengers.

Both facilities are general aviation airports serving private and corporate aircraft. Neither has commercial airline service.

The grants, announced by Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) come from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program.

In addition to the two local airports, New York Stewart International Airport will receive $2.9 million for improvements from the bipartisan infrastructure law.
