Three charged with welfare fraud

MONTICELLO – Three Sullivan County women have been charged with welfare fraud by the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force.

Jacqueline Vargas, 39, of Liberty, was charged with welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing, both as felonies.

It is alleged that she stole $1,435 in SNAP benefits from the Sullivan County Department of Social Services by failing to disclose on a periodic report a second source of income from a second job between June 29, 2022 and December 20, 2022.

She was released on an appearance ticket to Liberty Town Court.

Waleska Rivera-Sawo, 48, of Monticello, was charged with felony grand larceny. It is alleged that she stole $1,093 in SNAP benefits by failing to disclose that she was employed between July 15, 2022 and December 31, 2022.

She was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Liberty Court.

Marietta Trimble, 44, of Fallsburg was charged with the felonies of welfare fraud and offering a false instrument. It is alleged that she stole $3,067 in SNAP benefits by failing to disclose on her SNAP application that she was working from July 21, 2022 through September 1, 2022.

She was processed and released to return to Town of Liberty Court at a later date.
