WALDEN-  Josh Horner, 34, of Walden, is on administrative leave from his job as the Director at Camp Robbins in Walden following his arrest on charges related to the sexual abuse of a child.  Camp Robbins is a summer camp operated by the YMCA of Middletown.  Horner also served as Club Kid director for program sites in Cornwall, Pine Bush, Valley Central, and Wallkill, which is a before and after-school childcare program.

According to an email sent from the YMCA of Middletown to Camp Robbins families, the YMCA believes the charges are not associated with any children under Horner’s care.

The email read, in part, “We are appalled and deeply saddened by these allegations.  Most importantly, though, our thoughts and prayers are with the child involved and their family.”

The YMCA also indicated it will cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation.

Horner’s employment at the YMCA was subject to the agency’s background check policy.  “Before employees are hired, the Y performs extensive background investigations and checks relating to criminal history, and especially offenses relating to sexual misconduct.  After employees are hired, the Y continues to conduct these investigations and checks on regular basis,” read the email.  Background checks are required for programs like Club Kid, which is registered and licensed by the New York State Office of Child and Family Services.

State Police asked anyone with additional information about Horner to contact them at 845-344-5300.
