MONTICELLO- Holiday Mountain in Monticello is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation to bring the ski area back to its glory days.  New ski runs, as well as a second chair lift operation, will be added for this year’s ski season.

Mike Taylor, the new owner, said he and his wife grew up skiing at Holiday Mountain.  It is where they and generations of skiers who grew up in the Catskills learned to ski.  Taylor and his family purchased the mountain in May.

In preparation for the winter season, workers are busy installing thousands of feet of pipe, pumps, and snow machines.

“Holiday Mountain has been here since 1957,” said Taylor.  “We have 155 acres on the property, unfortunately it has been slowly in demise over the years.  It is down to three trails,” said Taylor.  When the renovations are complete, all 17 trails will once again be operational.

Taylor believes Holiday Mountain has great potential, due in large part to its location and proximity to resources.  “We’re 85 miles from 13 million people,” said Taylor.  “We have great snowmaking, water, a friendly municipality, and good infrastructure.”

“We are reinvesting here because we believe in Holiday Mountain,” concluded Taylor.
