Police investigating shots fired in apartment complex

Heavy police presence at Pendell Commons in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town Police in Poughkeepsie are investigating an incident involving gunfire that occurred around 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Pendell Road area between Creek Road and Violet Avenue.  Several police units responded to the Pendell Commons apartment complex shortly after neighbors heard at least five gunshots ring out.

Responding officers initially arrived at the complex and investigated the area near Building 6.

Just a few minutes later, police were reportedly interviewing three teenage subjects in the area of Building 5.  The property manager for the complex was also on site.

At approximately 6:42 p.m., a Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Crime Scene Technician was requested to the scene.

Five casings from a weapon were recovered by police in the area of Building 4 in the complex.

At 7:30 p.m., several police units were still on the scene collecting evidence.
