Two charged with felonies after Sunday street brawl (VIDEO)

POUGHKEEPSIE – A melee on Maple Street in Poughkeepsie on Sunday afternoon has resulted in two men facing felony charges for their roles.  The investigation is ongoing and the City of Poughkeepsie Police are asking for witnesses to come forward.

Forty-year-old Jeremy Taylor of Poughkeepsie was charged with felony assault and held pending arraignment, according to Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark.  Rakim Paulin, 43, of Beacon, is facing felony charges of assault and attempted assault for his role in the fracas that left a victim in critical condition at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

Two victims were injured in the incident.  One subject was struck with a bat, stabbed with a knife, and then hit by a car.  That yet-to-be identified victim is in critical condition at MidHudson Regional Medical Center.  A second victim was struck by a car driving the wrong way.  A third victim was also struck by a vehicle.

There were several witnesses to the incident that began as a dispute near the Pershing Avenue Park and spilled over to the 400 block of Maple Street (westbound 44/55 arterial).  Anyone who witnessed any part of the incident or has video of the melee is asked to contact the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department confidential TIP LINE at 845-451-7577.
