TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Police in the Town of Newburgh are continuing their investigation into an apparent hit-and-run incident in which a motorist who was changing a tire on his car was struck and killed.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. last Friday on Old Little Britain Road near the intersection of Unity Place.

Officers found the victim, Walter Weiser, 65, of Monroe, unconscious in the roadway. Attempts to revive him were not successful and he was later pronounced dead.

Police said it appears the victim may have been struck by a passing vehicle that did not stop.
