GOSHEN – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Monday said it stands with the Jewish community during “recent outrageous prejudice behavior.”
The comments from the sheriff’s office come following an anti-Semitic sign being posted on a lawn in Blooming Grove recently.
In a statement from Sheriff Paul Arteta, he said the “bias and demonization of our neighbors, rooted in ignorance and insecurity, has no place in a civil society.”
He said his office stands with the Jewish community, “in support of their traditions and lives as American citizens, and with acknowledgment of their significant contributions to the strength of our nation.”
Arteta said it is “the role of families and educators to inoculate against prejudice. It is the role of our office to investigate and apprehend those who would sow violence. It is the responsibility of all to ensure we live in safety, liberty, and peace.”
