Middletown man arrested for driving with BAC three times legal limit

TOWN OF WALLKILL – State Police have arrested a Middletown man for driving on Interstate 84 in the Town of Wallkill with a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit.

Jorge Tapia-Ramirez, 46, was stopped for erratic driving just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 20 and it was determined his blood alcohol content was 0.24 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

It was also learned that he had a bench warrant from Orange County Court for felony DWI in 2015 and a warrant for DWI from Newburgh City Court for an arrest in March 2023 where he provided a false name.

Tapia-Ramirez was charged with felony DWI and committed to the Orange County Jail pending arraignment.
