POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police officers were involved in a shooting with a subject on Sunday night. The shooting occurred on Main Street at approximately 8:00 p.m. on August 20, 2023.
City of Poughkeepsie firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene in front of El Chapulin ice cream stand minutes later, at approximately 8:08 p.m.
Officers and detectives from the City of Poughkeepsie responded to the scene and were assisted by officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie.
City of Poughkeepsie Police Chief Tom Pape told Mid-Hudson News that the incident was “An officer-involved shooting that resulted in non-life threatening injuries.” A weapon was recovered at the scene and the investigation is ongoing. The subject was shot by police. The officers were also treated at a local hospital related to the incident, according to City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Rich Wilson.
