Attempted robbery of letter carrier

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The Town and City of Poughkeepsie Police are searching for two men who allegedly assaulted a US Mail carrier in the Vassar Garden Apartments. The incident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, August 21.

It is reported that the two men were trying to forcibly take the carrier’s master key.

The would-be robbers fled the apartment complex from the area of Building E and fled on foot towards the arterial.

The subjects, both described in their 20s, were last seen dressed in jumpsuits.

Several town units patrolled the area of the apartment complex searching for the subjects, while others searched neighboring streets and a K-9 unit was brought in to track the men.
