NEWBURGH- The Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) will host its August commencement ceremony on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. on Academy Field. The ceremony will celebrate the final members of the Newburgh Free Academy Class of 2023.
During the ceremony, William Kaplan will be indicted as the inaugural member of the Newburgh Free Academy Hall of Fame.
Kaplan, who graduated in NFA’s Class of 1945, is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has dedicated his life’s mission to supporting educational initiatives throughout the greater Newburgh community. As the Founding Chairman of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center, Kaplan provides enrichment opportunities that engage children and their families in a continuous love of learning, with a dedicated focus on enhancing literacy skills. Kaplan was also instrumental in the establishment and expansion of SUNY Orange’s Newburgh Campus.
Kaplan will be the inaugural inductee into the NFA Hall of Fame.
