NEW PALTZ- With the return of pleasant summer temperatures, Wallkill Valley Land Trust (WVLT) invites all to stop by Coppersea Distilling for drinks, food, yard games, and live music on Friday, August 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In this monthly series, WVLT aims to meet and connect with both locals and visitors who have spent time and enjoyed one or more of the lands that they protect including the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, Joppenbergh Mountain, and Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary.  Trail users can share experiences and suggestions while WVLT staff highlight the importance of land conservation in Ulster County.

WVLT is once again partnering with Coppersea Distilling, an award-winning distillery that crafts fine whiskies from locally sourced grain.  Coppersea was the first distillery in New York to floor malt its own grain, meaning they use exclusively malt from their own malt house that enables them to commit to 100 percent Hudson Valley grains.  Located right off the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, guests can expect a breathtaking view of the Shawangunk Ridge while enjoying a range of refreshing drinks and tastings.

For those looking to enjoy some local bites with their drinks, Creekside Bar & Bistro of Rosendale will be firing up their grill to serve burgers and chicken sandwiches.  To complete the evening, singer-songwriter, fiddler, and educator Bella Kay brings a joyful blend of original and traditional live folk music that draws on Celtic, Appalachian, and other traditions.  Bella aims to inspire and provoke audiences to consider their connection to the earth and one another.

Folks are encouraged to bring the entire family – There’s ample space for kids to run around, yard games to keep them entertained, and plenty of water for the dogs!

A portion of the proceeds from Coppersea sales will be donated to WVLT, which will support their ongoing efforts to protect open spaces, trails, and farms in Ulster County.

Coppersea is located at 239 Springtown Road, New Paltz but you can also access it on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail between mile marker 10 and 11.
