WAPPINGERS FALLS- September is National Recovery Awareness Month.  Recovery month is a time to celebrate the strides made by those in recovery from substance misuse, mental health issues, and gambling harm.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, the New York Council on Problem Gambling will host its first statewide recovery event.  With the expansion of gambling in New York, the Council is thrilled to be able to expand recovery resources offered to the community.  The Recovery Picnic will be held at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls from 11:0 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This is a family friendly event as we know addiction of any kind can impact more than just the individual.  We invite you to come celebrate recovery with us through a recovery walk, speakers of hope, lawn games, food, and more family fun.

The purpose of this event is to shine a light on those who have been impacted by gambling harm as well as to highlight the ever-growing recovery community surrounding gambling addiction.

The event is free and registration is necessary.  To attend, please click the link to register
