ALBANY – Robert Chambers, who as a 19-year-old was convicted of killing a young woman in New York’s Central Park during what he maintained was rough sex, was released from Shawangunk State Correctional Facility one week ago after serving a sentence for drug sales.

Chambers, who was dubbed the “Preppy Killer,” had been released from prison in 2003 after serving 15 years for the killing of Jennifer Levin, 18, in 1986.

Years later he was arrested and sentenced on the drug charges.

Chambers, now 56, is living in Rockland County, according to a violent felony offender posting on Facebook.

That post says he is living on Eckerson Road in Spring Valley after being paroled from the prison in Ulster County for assault and drug sale charges.

His Rockland residency has been confirmed by a state prisons official.
