Members of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine's Class of 2027 received their white coats on Monday

MIDDLETOWN – A total of 135 students received their white coats in a ceremony at Middletown’s Paramount Theater on Monday signifying their entrance into medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Middletown campus this fall. Some 11,000 students applied to the college.

Executive Dean Dr. Ken Steier said the ceremony signifies their entrance into their field of medical study.

“Now at the very start of medical school on day one, to take the osteopathic oath and to get your white coat with your name on it, to really get our students into the mindset of what its like to be a physician, he responsibility that comes with it, the authority that will ultimately come with it, so they begin to think like physicians.”

Among the students are Katie Loiodice and Raffaele Lostumbo, both of the Town of Wallkill and both of whom went to Pine Bush High School and Binghamton University together.

Loiodice called Lostumbo and her a “power couple.”
