SOMERS- Located on a private 20-acre facility in Somers, New York, Summer Trails Day Camp is proudly celebrating 50 summers of good old-fashioned camp fun for children ages three to 14 years old. Since 1974, Summer Trails has created new opportunities for campers to engage in sports, have fun with friends, expand their limits, and experience camp to its fullest.
Jamie Sirkin has been the Director of Summer Trails for the past 18 years. Over the years, the camp has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to campers and their families, unique camp offerings, beautiful campground, and mature staff.
The Summer Trails staff looks forward to continuing to create positive and memorable experiences for all campers and their families during their 50th summer. In celebration of this major milestone, Summer Trails will be hosting a series of 50th birthday-focused festivities, including:
- Friday, July 28, 2023: The camp will be hosting a special “gold rush” themed birthday party for enrolled staff and campers during the day, complete with ice cream sundaes at snack time. Later that evening, the camp will welcome back alumni staff and alumni campers, along with their families, for an evening of food, fun, and the opportunity to reconnect and share their Summer Trails memories with each other.
- Thursday, August 17, 2023: Summer Trails will celebrate with a giant end-of-camp season birthday bash for all 2023 registered campers, their families, and staff. This celebratory event will include food trucks, camp fun, photo opportunities, and the sharing of 50 heartfelt stories that the Summer Trails team has collected about people’s fondest camp memories.
“As we enter our 50th summer, we clearly understand the profound impact that the pandemic had on children, and now, more than ever, attending camp is of utmost importance,” said Jamie Sirkin, Director of Summer Trails Day Camp. “At Summer Trails, we are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive.”
The camp facility boasts a wildlife-filled lake, two heated swimming pools, an archery range, a zip line over the pond, an aerial challenge course , nature trails, spacious ball fields, and athletic and creative arts facilities. In addition to daily instructional swim, the variety of activities includes activities such as STEM, dance, lacrosse, and miniature golf.
With a focus on fostering personal growth, building lifelong friendships, and embracing the spirit of adventure, the camp has become a treasured part of thousands of childhoods.
