GOSHEN – A New York State Trooper from Troop T who was arrested in July 2022 on charges of criminal sex act, two counts of sexual abuse forcible compulsion, and forcible touching, has been vindicated, according to his attorney.  Thirty-two-year-old Matthew Stivala was arrested after the alleged victim, whom he knows, filed a criminal complaint against the trooper.

Stivala’s attorney, Peter Brill, told Mid-Hudson News the “Orange County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed all charges against Trooper Stivala after determining that the complainant’s story lacked credibility.”

The charges were brought in the justice courts in the Town of Woodbury and the Town of Harriman.  Stivala was granted an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal (ACD) in Woodbury and the Harriman charges were dismissed based on the ACD from Woodbury.
