TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Electric car manufacturer Tesla has selected a 927,000 square foot building on Route 300 across from the Newburgh Mall for a new regional car parts distribution center.

The building was constructed on speculation by Matrix Development Group in the Town of Newburgh. The company also built a 215,000 square foot spec facility at the same location.

The property is adjacent to the I-84/Thruway interchange, considered to be a strategic location for logistics and warehouse/distribution operations.

“Matrix has a long history of undertaking quality projects in Orange County,” said Orange County Partnership President Maureen Halahan. “Our market is strong – we will continue to support site development in the effort to attract more quality companies to Orange County.”

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Tesla is “changing the automotive industry in America and abroad.” He said the distribution center in Orange County “can raise income levels for our area and create good jobs. It will also increase competition for our workforce and is another major name in the American economy choosing to come to Orange County.”
