WOODBURY – Two men are facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop in the Town of Woodbury on Tuesday.  New York State Police arrested 31-year-old Jonathan Mateo of Moravia and Dylan Murdock, 30, of Fulton, after Troopers in the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) stopped a car driven by Mateo on Route 17 at 2:40 p.m.

The Troopers were assisted by NYSP K9 Kell.  While Mateo and Murdock were being interviewed by troopers, K9 Kell and her human partner walked around the car that Mateo was driving.  The dog “alerted”, indicating that drugs were located in the trunk of the Nissan Altima.  When the trunk was opened, K9 Kell alerted again at a backpack in the trunk.

Investigating troopers found 1,077 grams of cocaine, more than a kilogram of the drug wrapped in plastic in the backpack.

Both men were taken into custody.  Mateo had $5,560 in cash on him while Murdock had $197 in his possession.

The two were charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.  The two were remanded to the custody of the Orange County Jail and are scheduled back in court on July 17, 2023.
