TOWN OF BETHEL – A multi-car accident on Route 17-B in Bethel at the intersection with Martin Lane Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:09 p.m. has closed Route 17-B to all traffic except emergency personnel. Officials at the scene have confirmed that one person was killed in the wreck.
A medivac helicopter was called for another victim, but due to the weather, a helicopter could not be dispatched. Alternatively, the patient was transported to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown by ambulance.
Route 17-B will be closed to traffic in both directions between Creamery Road and Airport Road for an extended period as State Troopers conduct an accident investigation.
A source has told Mid-Hudson News that one of the vehicles involved in the collision left the scene but was stopped by police a short time later.
