Additional flooding possible for region today

DUTCHESS COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook advisory along with a Flood Watch that may impact eastern Dutchess and eastern Columbia Counties on Thursday afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for eastern Dutchess and eastern Columbia Counties until 8:00 p.m. on July 13, 2023.

A flood watch is in effect for eastern Dutchess and Columbia Counties from 5:00 p.m. until late Thursday night.

Rainfall, according to the NWS, will occur later today (Thursday) and evening as a line of strong thunderstorms moves through. Rivers and streams are already running high and any additional rainfall will go straight to run-off in areas that have recently flooded.

Additional forecast rainfall amounts are 1 to 1.5 inches, locally up to 3 inches in the heaviest thunderstorms.
