TOWN OF ROCHESTER – State Police are investigating a Monday night accident that claimed the life of 62-year-old Marshall Barney of Milton.  Barney was killed while operating his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with 30-year-old Claudine Unabia riding as a passenger.  Unabia was airlifted from the scene and taken to Westchester Medical Center in serious condition.

State Police responded on July 10, 2023, to a motorcycle crash on Samsonville Road at the intersection with Hill Road in the town of Rochester at approximately 10:09 p.m.,

Investigation revealed that Barney and his passenger were traveling eastbound on Samsonville Road. While making a 90-degree turn at Hill Road, he lost control of the motorcycle and crossed over the double yellow line into westbound traffic, and struck a guide rail head-on.

When Troopers arrived at the scene Kerhonkson First Aid Squad personnel were performing CPR on Mr. Barney. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Unabia, a Gardiner resident, was treated by EMTs at the scene before being airlifted.
