TOWN OF FISHKILL – Town Police Sergeant Anthony Zebrowski and Officer Ken Anderson are being credited with saving the life of a choking victim on June 28, 2023.  Fishkill Police Chief Keith Dworkin said the actions of Zebrowski and Anderson were “heroic” while pointing out that all of the Town of Fishkill police officers are trained to save lives as part of the department’s strong commitment to the community.

“I am extremely proud of the officers’ quick response and life-saving efforts,” Chief Dworkin said.  “When they realized the victim’s condition was dire, their comprehensive training kicked in and they immediately transitioned to providing life-saving CPR until EMS personnel arrived on the scene.”

The two cops were dispatched to a private residence on Addison Road on June 28th for a report of a woman choking on food.  Upon arrival, the two quickly assessed the situation and attempted to clear the woman’s airway of the obstruction.  The attempts were unsuccessful and the patient became unresponsive and had no pulse.  With EMS personnel still en route, Zebrowski and Anderson began CPR with an attached defibrillator in an attempt to save the woman’s life.

EMS personnel from Empress Ambulance arrived a short time later and were able to clear the patient’s airway and she soon began breathing again.  The woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for additional treatment and assessment.

“This is another example of the excellent service provided by the officers of the Town of Fishkill Police Department,” Chief Dworkin exclaimed, while Zebrowski, known for being a man of few words, told Mid-Hudson News “Being able to help keep a victim alive feels pretty good.”
