SAUGERTIES – The Saugerties Central School District Board of Education has named Dr. Daniel Erceg as the new superintendent of schools.

A Saugerties resident himself, Erceg graduated from Saugerties High School in 2002.

He holds a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership from Russell Sage College.

“Dr. Erceg perfectly embodies the important trains that our faculty, staff, students, and community identified” in a survey conducted in the selection process, said Board President Robert Thomann.

Erceg will be replacing Kirk Reinhardt, who resigned from his position on March 31.

Erceg’s career includes teaching math in Honolulu, Hawaii and at LaGrange Middle School in the Arlington District, serving as assistant director of Math, Science and Technology grades 5-12 in the Kingston school district, then vice principal at J. Watson Bailey Middle School in Kingston.

He later served as assistant principal at Saugerties High School, director of human resources, deputy superintendent and then interim superintendent in Saugerties.

He assumes his new role immediately.
