NEW ROCHELLE – A police officer in the City of New Rochelle shot a man as he grabbed another officer’s gun as he was being placed under arrest late Monday afternoon.
Police were investigating a possible theft from a local store when they spotted a man nearby walking on Lincoln Avenue near North Avenue.
He resisted while being placed under arrest and was shot when he grabbed the gun in an attempt to remove it from the officer’s holster.
The man, who police did not identify, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The incident is under investigation by State Police and the State Attorney General’s Office since it was an officer involved shooting.
