KINGSTON – Kingston High School Assistant Principal Dr. Rachael Scorca has been promoted by the Kingston School Board to principal effective July 1.

She will replace current Principal Kirk Reinhardtt, who will become deputy superintendent for teaching and learning.

Scorca has been with the school district for nearly 15 years. She was an English teacher at the high school for 10 years before transitioning into the assistant principal role in August 2018.

Scorca said her primary objectives in her first year will be to continue to prioritize students. “My aim will be around amplifying the student voice, enhancing communication among staff, students, parents and the community, and cultivating a strong sense of belonging and school pride,” she said.

A graduate of Rhinebeck High School, Scorca received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and Spanish from American University, and a master’s from teaching from Bard College.

She then went on to earn another master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from SUNY New Paltz, and a doctor of education from Vanderbilt University.

Scorca lives in Rhinebeck.
