PLEASANT VALLEY – A two-year-old child died on Thursday at the family residence on Salt Point Turnpike in Pleasant Valley after falling into a septic tank on the property. Emergency personnel, including the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the call at approximately 9 a.m.
First responders were informed that the child had fallen into the tank on the property and had been removed, with CPR being administered prior to their arrival. The first responders took over the life-saving measures and transported the child to MidHudson Regional Medical Center in the Town of Poughkeepsie where the child was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
