Bail-jumper busted for ignoring court dates

CARMEL – Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville announced the arrest of a Patterson man who was the subject of four outstanding bench warrants for failing to appear in court on previous charges.

Nicholas Bunyea, 23, was arrested on June 14 by members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit on four bench warrants.  Bunyea had two outstanding warrants issued by the Town of Patterson Court, one from the Town of Carmel Court, and one from the Town of Southeast Court.  When he was apprehended by the NEU, Bunyea was in possession of heroin.

Bunyea was arraigned on charges of felony bail jumping, two misdemeanor counts of bail jumping, and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.  He was remanded to the Putnam COunty Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
