POUGHKEEPSIE – Consuelo Lopez, 45, entered a guilty plea to a murder charge for killing 64-year-old Paul Thompson in his Main Street apartment in March 2020. Lopez and her three male accomplices are all facing murder charges.  All four individuals were arrested this past winter.

Considered the ringleader by police that investigated the homicide, Lopez gave multiple lengthy statements that incriminated her in the murder.  Lopez’s attorney, Kelley Enderley of Poughkeepsie, explained the plea to Mid-Hudson News, saying “This was a decision made by my client after her review of the evidence with me,” adding “My client was further persuaded to enter the plea after my conversations with the District Attorney’s Office.”

If Lopez went to trial, she would have faced a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.  When Dutchess County Court Judge Edward McLoughlin sentences her on July 5, 2023, she is expected to receive a sentence of 22 years to life behind bars.
