WAPPINGERS FALLS- Family Services Inc. is pleased to announce that our CEO, Leah Feldman, made history last night by throwing the first pitch at the newly named Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls while holding her baby in her arms, alongside partners from Heritage Financial Credit Union, who caught the pitch!

Family Services a local nonprofit with a vision of building a stronger, safer Hudson Valley, reaching nearly 17,000 children, adults, and families each year partners to serve the community with Heritage Financial Credit Union, a local credit union serving in and around the Hudson Valley for over 80 years.  In 2022 the Financial Development Center, an Extension of Heritage Financial Credit Union opened in the Family Partnership Center marking the first banking institution on the north side of Poughkeepsie.  The Family Services Family Partnership Center is available to the community as a place to come together for conversation and the exchange of ideas, to participate in athletics and arts programming, and where a variety of nonprofits and related organizations can co-locate and collaborate to offer enhanced services that create real access.

The Financial Development Center’s mission is to expand economic opportunity for underserved people and communities by supporting the growth of financial service providers.  Their focus, in partnership with Family Services, is to assist underserved communities within Poughkeepsie to provide financial opportunities through guidance and education.

Chad Beach, Community Development Officer for Heritage Financial Credit Union said, “Heritage Financial Credit Union is proud to be a partner at the Family Partnership Center working alongside Family Services and all the great community organizational partners that provide critical need services to the community members of Poughkeepsie.”

Throughout the evening Feldman gave special recognition to May, Mental Health Awareness Month.  With programs areas including behavioral health services, victim services, family programs, prevention, youth, and community safety, Family Services is credited for their commitment to providing accessible and inclusive mental health support to our community.

Leah Feldman, who has led Family Services Inc. since 2022, was thrilled to take part in the game with partners at Heritage Financial Credit Union, even when her little one needed mommy time.  “It is an honor to stand here today on behalf of Family Services, as a CEO, and as a mom.  A couple people asked me if I was going to throw like a girl… I said absolutely!”

Family Services is honored to partner with Heritage Financial Credit Union to strengthen and elevate the Hudson Valley.  “Visitors to the Family Partnership Center can now access safe and affordable banking products and services intended to help communities make possible their financial hopes and dreams” Feldman said.

The first pitch was followed by a baseball game and a variety of activities and events throughout the evening.  Family Services Inc. invited the entire community to join us in celebrating the partnership with Heritage Financial Credit Union and the newly named Heritage Financial Park that provides countless opportunities for families to come together and enjoy the outdoors.
