CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON- The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is excited to announce that the Wildlife Education Center located at 25 Boulevard, Cornwall-on-Hudson, is reopening with the newly renovated Joseph F. Maloney III Hall of Animals.  Nature Museum Members can get a sneak peek ahead of the public on Saturday & Sunday May 20 & 21, 2023, and the grand reopening will take place on Saturday and Sunday May 27 & 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Enjoy two special weekends where you can be the first to see all of the updates and enter in a special raffle going on those two weekends only!

The Wildlife Education Center is home to many animals that can be found in our local habitats including rabbits, turtles, frogs, toads, salamanders, doves, snakes and fish, and of course the crowd favorite, Edgar, our resident crow that says “hello!”

The animals are happy in their larger and more personalized enclosures as well as with the additional upgrades.  These changes will also improve & enhance the experience for the visitors and staff.  The space is now filled with natural light and features a newly designed prep-station.  Once hidden away, this area will now be accessible to visitors so that they can see all that goes into caring for the animals, and will be able to have their questions answered.  The popular “Meet the Animals” programs will also make a return (details TBA).

The Nature Museum is proud to name the newly renovated Hall of Animals in honor and memory of Joseph F. Maloney III.  As a child, Joseph attempted to sign up for the nature program that would become HHNM in its first year.  He was turned away for being too young, but encouraged to return the following summer when he met the age requirement.  He did, and so began his lifelong involvement with the organization where he grew from student to committed board member, generous donor, and trusted friend.

The Wildlife Education Center will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Admission is FREE for HHNM Members and children under the age of 3.  Not-yet-Members age 3 and up are $5 per person.
