NEWBURGH – Several families were left homeless Tuesday night as fire damaged three apartment buildings in the City of Newburgh – 208, 210, and 212 North Miller Street.

Huge flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the buildings.

Firefighters said the blaze started in one building and quickly spread to the others.

Many of the residents who were forced out said they would stay with family and friends.

City firefighters were assisted by several other area departments.

It took about an hour to put out the fire, the cause of which is under investigation.
