MONTICELLO- Due to an influx of cases resulting from recently passed federal legislation, the Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency (VSA) is asking visitors to please make an appointment before coming to the office inside the Government Center in Monticello.

“We haven’t locked the doors!  We’ll serve all who walk in as we can,” promises VSA Director Stephen Walsh.  “But for the best and most expedient service, people should call ahead before dropping by.”

The PACT Act, which expands Veterans Administration (VA) health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances, has increased interest in the already busy VSA office, which assists and supports all Sullivan County veterans and their families.  The County-run VSA is completely distinct and separate from the Federally-operated VA, though VSA staff routinely help people navigate the complexities and challenges of the VA system.

“I’m pleased that we have become such a crucial resource to so many local folks,” Walsh affirms.  “The goal of myself and my staff is to make sure their experience with this office is positive, supportive, and effective, and the best way to achieve that is to begin with a phone call making an appointment with us.”

To schedule a visit to the VSA, please call 845-807-0233.
