POUGHKEEPSIE – Twenty-three-year-old David Rosario Jr. of Poughkeepsie has been arrested and charged with two felony weapons charges and misdemeanor menacing following an incident just after midnight Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a man with a gun at approximately 12:43 a.m. on Saturday in the area of Main and Clover Streets in Poughkeepsie.

Armed with a description, city police spotted the subject and attempted to make contact with him.  Rosario did not comply and chose to try and outrun the police, unsuccessfully.  While attempting to flee, Rosario tried to lighten his weight by discarding a loaded Taurus 9MM semi-automatic handgun, which police quickly recovered.

After being captured by the police, he was taken into custody without further incident and processed at police headquarters.
