OTISVILLE- Cultivating Healing and Justice Initiative Support Services Inc. (CHJI) encourages men between the ages of 40 and 75, especially those with a family history that may put them or their loved ones at higher risk, to participate in the free PSA blood testing at the 2nd Annual “I’d Walk for Him” Walk for a Cause event on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Otisville Veterans Memorial Park.  The event begins at 9:30 a.m.

The pre-registration fee is $20, which includes a T-shirt, and children 10 years and under may participate for free.  After May 19th, T-shirts will be available for purchase at $25 on the day of the event.

This event is being organized by CHJI Support Services Inc., a prostate cancer awareness organization with the goal of raising awareness about prostate cancer and providing free PSA testing for those in need.

Prostate cancer affects many members of the community, and we believe that working together as a community is the key to finding solutions.  This year, we have collaborated with the Robert F. Smith & Mount Sinai hospital mobile screen unit to provide free PSA blood screening to everyone.  According to a recent report by NBC News, one in eight American men will be diagnosed with this cancer, and one in four African American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“We would like to thank our 42nd Senate District Senator James Skoufis for co-sponsoring Senate Bill S2377, which promotes the well-being of New York residents by providing prostate cancer screenings and diagnostic services,” said Luis Abramson, Founder.  “Your dedication to serving the people of the 42nd Senate District is deeply appreciated.”

“As one of the only prostate cancer awareness organizations in collaboration with this one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art imaging equipment in Hudson Valley, we hope that the community can get involved and take advantage of the opportunity to get screened for prostate cancer,” added Abramson.  “Our event will not only provide screening services but will also raise awareness for prostate cancer, but also offer education about the disease, and provide support to those impacted by it.”

This event is family-oriented and pet-friendly.  For more information, please contact CHJI at 877-245-4227 or visit their website at www.chjiss.org.
