Parolee injuries cop after minibike-car crash

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 28-year-old man wanted by the State Division of Parole was arrested by Poughkeepsie City Police on Thursday morning after the minibike he was operating was involved in an accident with a car around 9 a.m. in the area of Hooker Avenue and Forbus Street.

Information about this incident was provided by the Poughkeepsie PBA.

The operator, later identified as Alex Nunez, was also wanted on a statewide extradition warrant for felony weapons possession out of New York City.

Nunez was located a short time later and resisted arrest causing injury to an officer.

In addition to the warrants, he was charged with assault, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and vehicle and traffic violations.

He was booked and held pending arraignment.

The union said the injured officer was expected to recover.
